The session was moderated by Dr. Jean Duplex DONGMO KENFACK and Ms. Fadimatou IYAWA OUSMANOU, President of the Cameroon National Youth Council.
YUNUS S.A
The company YUNUS S.A presented its partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education (MINJEC), aimed at supporting the socio-economic integration and financing of youth projects, including those initiated by members of the diaspora.
The Yunus Moto-Taxi Project
The initiative focuses on:
-
Youth integration: The project targets young Cameroonians by offering them opportunities to enter the moto-taxi transport sector as a means of generating stable income.
-
Access to motorbikes: Through structured partnerships, young beneficiaries are able to obtain motorbikes through financial leasing schemes or sales contracts, making ownership more accessible and affordable.
This model contributes to reducing unemployment while promoting entrepreneurship in the informal transport sector.
Appeal to the Private Sector, Financial Partners, and Civil Society
During the session, stakeholders were encouraged to strengthen their engagement in youth empowerment through concrete actions.
Two major recommendations were highlighted:
-
Mobilize innovative and alternative financing mechanisms to support the Guarantee Fund for Young Entrepreneurs (FOGAJEUNE) as well as special financing windows dedicated to youth initiatives.
-
Transform private sector commitments into sustainable programmes, including mentorship schemes, professional internships, and structured integration opportunities for young graduates and the most vulnerable youth.
This second round table emphasized the crucial role of the national private sector as a driver of employment, innovation, and investment, and as a strategic partner in translating youth policies into real economic opportunities.
